Who makes this

Migraine Journal is built and maintained by one person. There's no company behind it, no investors, and no data business.

I'm Mohamed Ali, an independent iOS developer. I started Migraine Journal for my mom, who has chronic migraines and had no usable answer when a doctor asked how often they happened. Everything in the app comes from watching one real person try to keep a record on her worst days.

I build it alone. Design, code, the App Store listing, the support emails, and the writing on this site are all one person, which is worth knowing when you're deciding whether to trust a health app. If something here is wrong, there's nobody else to blame and one person to email.

The app is native iOS, and your entries sync through your own private iCloud rather than a server I control. That was the first architectural decision and it hasn't changed: I can't read your data, which also means I can't lose it, sell it, or hand it to anyone.

What I'm not

I'm not a doctor, and Migraine Journal isn't a medical device. Nothing in the app or on this site diagnoses anything or tells you what to do about your symptoms. The app records what you tell it and adds up the results, which is genuinely useful at an appointment and is the whole extent of the claim.

Where an article here states a medical fact, it links to a named source — a medical body or a published study. Where the evidence is mixed, it says so.

How the writing works

Every post has to contain something you can't get from the big health sites: the caregiver's perspective, a specific mechanism explained properly, a usable template, or first-hand experience of building the thing. Posts that would just be another general migraine explainer don't get written.
